Taxi/Shuttle Price Comparison

The Atlanta Airport has basically two modes of transportation, taxi and shuttle vans. Both modes are available at the ground transportation center located on the west end of the terminal. After your trip through the transportation tunnel you will finally come to a long escalator which will lead you up to the main floor of the terminal. Your baggage will will be waiting to the left or right of the terminal depending on the airline you came in on.

After picking up your baggage you need to continue walking west out the W1 or W2 doors toward the ground transportation center. As you walk out the taxi's are right in front of you.

There are two ways you can pick up a taxi. If you have made a previous arrangement, either by phone or e-mail, you would look just ahead of the taxi  line and the taxi booth, to your left as you walk out the W1 or W2 door and see three spaces reserved for "Contracted taxis". Your driver will be waiting there. You acknowledge him, load and will be on your way. The drivers that are listed on this site will meet you at the "Contracted Taxis" spaces. In cases where you would like a positive identification you can either print the drivers page or picture or just memorize what he looks like. So if you have found yourself a driver you feel you can trust it is to your advantage and his that you make the arrangements, in advance,  for him to pick you up. Any driver from one of the 24 cabs listed on this site can be contracted.

The contracted driver will pick you up at these two parking spots. They are to the left or south of the taxi starter as you talk to him.

Atlanta is served by 1600 taxi cabs. They are lined up about 10 cabs at one time. Depending on the door you go out the taxi starter is either to the left or right of you. It is pretty efficient as you walk up to the starter and let him know you need a taxi. He will immediately assign you to a taxi, you and the driver load up and you will be on your way.

This is the only taxi loading area at the airport.

Taxing to your destination is definitely the
fastest way for you to get there. If you are only one person it is not the cheapest, but if you are on a schedule taxi will get you there a lot faster.. The shuttle loads its vans with passengers and than it is on its way to town. Of course you don't know how long or where you will get a ride to before you finally arrive at your destination. To tell you the truth it could be up to 2 hours on a ride that it will take a taxi 30 to 45 minutes to get to.  All rates to Buckhead, Midtown and Downtown are required flat rates dictated by the airport for your protection. If your destination is other than the three areas of town the driver has the right to run the meter.
